My Bedroom is Girly

Not long ago, at a dinner party, my friend Matt made a comment about my bedroom being too girly for a guy...and I haven't forgotten this comment.

I know some of you have full decor/design control over your homes and some of you have metro-men who put their two/four/six cents in on everything. But I'm a single gal and I have to wonder if my house could turn off a potential suitor!

It's not like my bedroom is decorated in hot pink (although after seeing this pic, I wish it were!)...
Or that I have a chandelier and a canopy (although, I'm jonesing for both now!)...
Or that I have uber-delicate furniture all in light fabrics (although, this looks so clean and delicious that I'm thinking of replacing my reading chair)...
Or that I use my handbags as decor or have a bust to dress up my jewels in (although, now I NEED one)...
Or that I have gorgeous fabrics, shiny and blingy accessories, books and pretty artwork (oh, wait...I do).

What do you think? Does feminine decor and design offend manly men? Or do even the macho-ist of guys appreciate well designed homes? Should I stick with my gut or stop accessorizing with girly items? I'd honestly love your opinions!!! Help a girl out!!!

I'll just tell you what MY man would think. He would have a problem if I decorated OUR bedroom in pink ruffles, but it certainly wouldn't have turned him away in the beginning.

These images are all beautiful! However, my husband would NEVER allow our bedroom to be pink, let alone have any pink in it.

Oh gosh. BEAUTIFUL bedroom. You know what? If you meet a man...he'll know that you would obviously change it. Or maybe you could do like my mom and keep a guest bedroom in your house girly and change the master bedroom to be more gender neutral.

The JJ I know wouldn't let a man stand in the way of the bedroom of her dreams. Just sayin'. :D

I am dying to put a chandelier in our boudoir!!! But, I love our fan in the summer. We have a white duvet with pleated trim, Mr. Hughes doesn't mind.

SMiles!

Charlie would not go for pink and ruffles in our bedroom, so I will just have to get my fix by going crazy in the girls' rooms! Thank goodness I had girls and not boys. What ever would I do??!!

Um, my man would say no to pink. It's just who he is! :)

Fun post, girl!

I love some of those pictures. Oh my gosh!

I think that it is important to express who you are. You shouldn't change your room based on how someone else feels it is... because what it is is you.

My hubby wouldn't want pink in our bedroom, but soft fabrics and little feminine touches don't bother him. (For pity's sake he wants purple accents! Still working on that one!) I think that deep down inside every man wants a woman who can soften things up :)

I say stay with what you've got...if things get serious, you can always have a good excuse to redecorate :)

Our room is pretty girly. I bought the better part of our stuff from IKEA. It is all bold colors like pink, purple, and bright golden yellow. Our walls are golden colored and there are tons of pink and purple accessories. My hubby doesn't care. He only sleeps in there and when he does he isnt looking.

On the other hand I read in there, do my daily devotions in there, scrapbook in there, etc. I like it to look cutesy.

By the way we also have a wrought iron canopy bed which he really did not want at first. But once it was delivered and assembled he confessed he really liked sleeping in it..felt like roaylty..LOL
