Fall Decor Laziness

I don't like "stuff" and I never have. But gosh, that sometimes conflicts with my desire to have a gorgeously accessorized home. Ever feel that way?

As Fall has come around and I've seen lovely blog posts about how you all have made your home a showcase for the season, I've been like a bit of a bump on a log. Back in my DC days, my mom used to send me a wreath for all holidays. Some of them never made it back to CA. And frankly, I don't think my teeny condo really has the room for holiday storage...but that's a bit of an excuse, isn't it?

I realized that decorating for Fall doesn't mean redoing all the vignettes in my home or that it requires a ton of "stuff", just a little something here and there...and just like that I've turned over a new leaf! I even bought a pumpkin last night, in hopes of transforming it into one of the beauties I just saw on AnNicole's site (but I'm going to wait another week so it doesn't rot!).

AND, guess what?! I'm going to attempt to make my own wreath this weekend...yep, that's right Mom, you heard me right. I'm going to make a wreath...what has this world come to???

In the meantime, I've made some small changes by adding a couple pumpkins here and there, rearranging candlesticks, and using a table runner I had in storage for a while. And you know what??? I really think I like it!

How bout you? Do you make big changes for holidays and season changes, or are you a bit more like me and prefer smaller little touches? I can't wait to hear that I'm not alone in this one. Ha!

I'm with you on the simple touches. A little seems to go a long way. And it's much easier to put away!

I like my house a certain way so I only go out of my way to decorate for Christmas. And, I will change it up for the switch from cold weather to warm. But, I don't want to have a bunch of stuff in storage that I only use for a couple of weeks each year. I do uy some pumpkins though!

SMiles!

I don't like STUFF either. If I ever try to be all fancy at home like other bloggers -- it all looks terrible. I have to keep things simple!!

Looks lovely at your place!

I love what you did with the table; it looks really nice!

As for seasonal decorating, I agree, less is more. :)

It is hard to go crazy, decorating for Fall, when it is like 90 degrees here like today. I just do small touches. I love your ribbon on the shade idea and may steal that!

I generally just do a little bit here in there. I have ONE sad little Halloween decoration! LOL! I do go all out for Christmas though! I can't wait to see your wreath!

I love the simple touches you added! I was starting to feel down in the dumps because I have such a little selection of fall items. So this year I went ahead and just bought a few simple bundles of faux leaves and a few little fall oriented things and displayed them on the mantel in the living room and the entertainment center. I go big for Christmas but I think it's still small in contrast to some of the talented bloggers out here that do it up HUGE for Christmas. I just love the warm feeling Christmas decorations give. And my boyfriend loves snowmen so we tend to have a TON of those around the house!

I'm excited to see your wreath!
