I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO SIT.
As said before (too many times to count), I'm single. My former table, now sitting in the garage waiting for my sister to come and get her, was a large square and I loved it. I always sat wherever I wanted, usually that was closest to the kitchen. I typically had that side of the table to myself. However, now I've got a true head and foot. My inclination would be to sit at the head, but it's not as close to the kitchen. Is that a problem?
Where do you sit when you've got people over? Tell me what you think I should do!
I'm leaning toward the head (which in this photo is against the mirrored wall over there on the right).

Gorgeous! When's dinner?
You should totally sit at the head, own it!
I always sit closest to the kitchen so that I can get up and down, but then I realized that it makes the guests sit facing the mess (in the kitchen) instead of facing the wall that has nice art on it. Oh well!
All I could think about was how dirty those gorgeous white chairs would get in my house! Sit in any of them!! Sit where you're comfortable and where your first inclination takes you!
Etiquette votes for the head of the table but, unless you've got a server on hand to change out plates, refill glasses and generally fetch and carry it's not very practical.
I vote foot because it's far less rude to declare the opposite end of the table the head than to have to walk around and potentially dislodge guests each time you need to play hostess :)
nice furniture
it must be expensive
thanks for blogwalking
Mmm...yes, I would say sit at one end as the hostess. That makes sense! Such a beautiful table and chairs! What is for dinner?
I love your chairs!!! I think you need to take video of your house, like in realty sites. I keep seeing glimpses of your amazing rooms and want to see the whole thing!
I say you should sit at the head of the table. It's your home. :D
I love the tuffed chairs. Yummy!
